Ami Suzuki – can’t stop the DISCO

can’t stop the DISCO is Ami Suzuki’s 15th avex single but 30th, overall. It was released on September 24, 2008 and reached #17 on the Oricon weekly Charts. It sold a total of 4,655 copies.
tracklist:
1. can’t stop the DISCO
2. climb up to the top
3. SUPER MUSIC MAKER (SA’08S/A mix)
After being completely blown away by Ami’s previous single, ONE, I was expecting a lot from can’t stop the DISCO. I wanted it to be as successful as ONE, and in a way, that expectation came true. can’t stop the DISCO is one million miles far different from ONE as it was very sparkly and glamorous in it’s own, while can’t stop the DISCO was focusing on an all-out, club song that grooves the listener’s way to the end. Not only is it groovy, it’s pretty damn catchy too! When I first heard this song, i was like “can’t stop the disco!, time trip, time slip” all over the place! The lyrics were kind of weird but I didn’t mind it since it’s weirdness was the reason for this song’s greatness! I just noticed that the background music was really strong, and to be honest, i absolutely thought it was brilliant! Why? Because it sounded great with the pinch of AGRESSIVE-ness present in the song, which makes it very disco-ey! In conclusion, a great track from Ami-go, and a groovy one too! XD
the title of the single is very true to it’s content as all of the songs on this single is megamixed! The title says, can’t stop the DISCO, and it’s true! all the songs in this single flows non-stop! Anyway, despite enjoying those non-stop moments in this single, I absolutely thought climb up to the top as just an okay song. It sounds so irritating with some other people’s yelling voice and those “climb up to the top” lines!, but the background music was quite good… I thought the rest of the song were kind of crappy and it’s terribly long, running at 6:32! If Ami and Nakata chopped it and tweaked it a bit, it would be great, because this song needs a lot of improvement!
I love it when Nakata makes remixes because they’re always good, and unique in some way. Just like in SUPER MUSIC MAKER (SA’08S/A mix). I have to say that I hated the original version a bit because it was a bit ugly but, this remix proved me wrong. Every single second of this song was stunning with it’s new arrangement, and is really really cool with everything on it’s side! I’m so glad it’s on her next album because it’s very a-side material-y! XD
