Eri Nobuchika – Lights

Lights is Eri Nobuchika’s debut single. It was released on December 8, 2004, and was used as an insert song for the PSP game, Lumines, and the theme song for the movie, Shinku. It reached #78 in the oricon weekly charts and has sold a total of 7,172 copies.

tracklist:
1. Lights
2. I hear the music in my soul
3. Lights (Acoustic)
4. Lights (Karaoke)

With the repetitive pianos, and the not so exciting atmosphere at the beginning, I thought Lights would be boring, odd, and so plain, because, well, nithing exciting was happening at the moment, and I thought nothing was worth waiting for so, at 1:40, when i was about to hit the stop button, the chorus came, and everything came in full blast!! HOLY, FRIGGIN, LORD!! It wasn’t until that time when I discovered the true beauty of this song! I didn’t know it was that Lovely, and amazing!! When you finally finish the song, you’ll crave for more, which will basically force you to repeat it again and again for about 15 times! It will not even make you feel tired of it, or think it’s too old for your tastes, i might add. I know because I’ve gone through that phase before, and trust me, I didn’t have Lights in repeat for 15 times.. ..just on repeat for a few ahem(THIRTY)ahem times. I’m telling you guys!! everything about this song is PERFECT!!, and just by fully listening to it for one time, you’ll automatically know that it’s well-prepared, and well-done! My favorite part of this song would have to be the chorus and the violins/strings near the bridge because it shows how elegant Eri is and how elegant Eri can be. Weidly, I just can’t seem to get over the song’s beauty, (isn’t it obvious on how long this review is?), and I just really think that a long 5 minute-and a half playing time, is TOO TOO TOO SHORT for this beautiful offering. Eri’s vocals seem to fit the song’s style, and her voice just grabs your attention, and stun you out of nowhere when she starts to sing. I believe i stand for every-Eri fan out there when i say, “ERI’S WORKS IN NO DOUBT, ARE ADDICTING~and AMAZING!!”. Definitely a 2 thumbs up, and of course, HIGHLY∞ RECOMMENDED!

The B-side of this single is an instrumental entitled “I hear the music in my soul“, which runs for freakin’ 8 minutes. It may be that long but, I consider it mostly, an 8-minute treat for people who likes groove music!. When you first listen to it, you’ll get that 80’s-90’s pop feeling, that makes a person think of disco parties, and everything that has to do with the disco. Even though it’s freakin’ long, I don’t think it’s boring or anything, because the groovy music keeps the listener entertaind, which I think is a good thing. Anyway, another great track from Eri, and definietly a recommend!

The acoustic version of Lights is awesome!! I really like it’s calm atmosphere, and I love how Eri’s voice seem to shine all throughout the song! When you hear the intro of this track, you wouldn’t really notice that it’s lights being re-mixed because it’s arrangement is unique and different, except for the parts where Eri sings, and the violin solo! Which remids me of Eri’s elegance in the original version of Lights. Okay, I loved the strings in the original version but, HAA!! THIS ONE IS THE BEST!!! The orchestral feel and everything, it’s perfect!! Again, a great track, and again, a recommend!!
