DAViCHi – DAViCHi in Wonderland

DAViCHi in Wonderland is DAViCHi’s 1st mini-album. It was released on February 27, 2009, and had the highest postion of #3 in the charts. It sold more than 13,661 copies in Korea.
tracklist:
1. 8282 (Hurry Hurry)
2. I Made an Accident
3. My Man
4. Is Love Funny
5. Orgel
6. Crazy Woman
8282 (Hurry Hurry), the lead track, opens the mini-album at a cool, gentle way with a soft piano sound, mixed in with some strings. The violin stops, which leaves the piano alone to accompany Min Kyung in the first verse. Hae Ri then sings the verse before the chorus, which isn’t different from the previous verse because Hae Ri’s part is still piano-oriented. The ever powerful chorus then comes in, turning the tempo up, making the song sound a lot livelier. Even though some parts may sound dull with only the piano at the background, You won’t really mind that because both of the girls’ voices will struck you with it’s beauty. That’s how great these girls sing. The chorus part was the main highlight of the song because of the catchiness present especially on those “Give me a call, baby baby” lines. In all, great song, and a good choice for a promotional track.
Track 2, I Made an Accident, is the song they were performing 8282 with during promo shows. Though this song doesn’t compare to 8282, it still gives a pleasurable listen. The arrangement contains the usual DAViCHi piano-string combination, with the addition of stronger beats. The song sounds more orchestra-oriented than other songs but, it is really beautiful.
If I was to be asked what the best song on this release is, I’d say My Man, without thinking. I didn’t hear a song this up-beat from DAViCHi since Love and War, which got me loving this one to it’s very core. I am dead serious. The song is full of energy, which helps the song sound so unique. Well, I guess the main reason it’s unique is because it is not a ballad. DAViCHi seldom releases an up-tempoed song, which I’m sure is a reason why the song itself deserves so much love. I’d also choose this as the mini-album’s lead track because it’s far better, and more friendly to the audience. What helped the song sound so cool the most is the hopping beat it has because it matches the playful synth that plays all over the song, and the duo’s beautiful voices. The part of this song that struck me the most would have to be the the chorus because it is DAMN CATCHY. I never got tired of the chorus because It sounds so awesome, especially the “oh yeah yeah yeah” part. In all, an awesome track, and probably the best DAViCHi song ever.
Is Love Funny comes next, which is quite similar to I Made an Accident, in terms of arrangement. Out of all the ballads here in this release, this one has got to be the most powerful because you can feel the emotion the girls’ voices carries. Although the first part of the song may sound boring, the song gets better as the longer it gets.
Orgel carries that spooky feel, which draws you closer to it because of how unique it sounds. The song also has that heavy beat, which is really good because it matches well with the orchestra-oriented sound it has. Despite the song not being all that powerful, It is the most outstanding out of all 4 ballads here.
Crazy woman is a collabo between Hae Ri of DAViCHi, Kim Yeon Ji of SeeYa, and Lee Jung Min. I don’t really see anything special in the song, except for the outstanding vocal performances the 3 girls’ showed but, the song overall, sounds so beautiful. Just like any other ballad here in this release, It’s bautiful, and cleanly polished. It was worth listening to.
